Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Position Summary

An industrial manufacturer is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing engineering, process improvement, equipment reliability, and lean initiatives. This role partners with Operations, Quality, Product Engineering, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and IT to improve safety, quality, productivity, throughput, and equipment uptime.

The manager leads the Manufacturing Engineering team, supports daily production needs, and drives sustainable improvements across established manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop the Manufacturing Engineering team.

• Set priorities, assign resources, and ensure accountability for projects and results.

• Improve production processes, workflow, ergonomics, tooling, fixtures, layouts, and standard work.

• Lead lean initiatives, root-cause analysis, and corrective-action efforts.

• Provide timely engineering support for production, quality, process, tooling, and equipment issues.

• Support product and process changes, including production validation, workforce readiness, ramp-up, and operational handoff.

• Improve equipment reliability through preventive maintenance support, recurring-issue tracking, spare-parts planning, and repair coordination.

• Evaluate equipment repair, upgrade, replacement, and capacity needs using safety, quality, maintenance, and operational data.

• Coordinate routine facility repairs, contractors, and minor site improvements.

• Support installation, commissioning, and handoff of approved equipment and facility projects.

• Communicate priorities, project status, risks, and resource needs across functional teams.

• Ensure improvements are documented, trained, implemented, and sustained.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Five or more years of manufacturing engineering experience in an industrial environment.

• Prior experience leading or supervising manufacturing engineering personnel.

• Experience with lean manufacturing, process improvement, equipment reliability, tooling, fixtures, and production support.

• Strong problem-solving, project-management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in heavy equipment, fabricated products, or industrial manufacturing.

• Experience with fabrication, welding, machining, paint, or assembly operations.

• Familiarity with CAD, ERP, preventive-maintenance, or manufacturing data systems.

• Lean, Six Sigma, or project-management certification.
