Position: Metrology Inspector II
$5,000 SIGNING BONUS offered for this position!
Hours: 
M-Th 6am - 4:30pm
Pay: $25-34/hr.
Location:
Duluth, MN area (relocation is available)

The Metrology Inspector II is responsible for in-process and final inspections of products to ensure compliance with engineering type design. This role involves timely execution and reporting of inspection results, including documentation of any deviations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, integrity, sound judgment, and a collaborative attitude throughout the inspection process. Additionally, the role includes the development and implementation of metrology practices for manufacturing inspection. Responsibilities include inspecting components and tools using basic measurement instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers) along with advanced metrology equipment guided by CAD and GD&T data.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Read, interpret, and inspect to engineering drawings, procedures, and process specifications governing manufacturing processes.

  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of quality assurance manuals and internal procedures.

  • Ensure products/services meet all specifications and customer requirements.

  • Exhibit leadership when working with manufacturing technicians.

  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.

  • Adapt to changing job functions and effectively multitask.

  • Operate metrology equipment for inspection of aircraft components and manufacturing tools.

  • Perform receiving inspections as required.

  • Execute tooling certification and maintain calibration records in the certification database.

  • Develop and run automated CMM inspection programs using CAD and GD&T data.

  • Conduct measurement systems analysis.

  • Identify and evaluate measurement system errors and non-conformities, and develop corrective actions.

  • Support standardization and continuous improvement in dimensional inspection processes.

  • Provide support to quality assurance personnel as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate degree in CAD or equivalent experience in creating/reading engineering drawings with GD&T.

  • At least two years of experience in engineering design or manufacturing inspection.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and inspect to technical drawings and specifications.

  • Proficiency in basic measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges).

  • Experience with advanced metrology tools such as Faro Arms, Laser Trackers, CMMs, and Laser Scanners.

  • Skilled in Polyworks, Cam2MeasureX, and PC-DMIS inspection software.

  • In-depth understanding of GD&T.

  • Familiarity with Creo.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Solid spatial and mechanical aptitude.
